How the French eat

Of course France is the land of gastronomy, but how do its inhabitants deal with their meals on the regular?

The overall time French people devote daily to their meals on average, which adds up to almost 12 hours a week, according to a Kantar TNS for Elior Group and Paris 2024.

On average, the time devoted each day to meals exceeds 90 minutes. Over half of the French spend at least 30 minutes on each of the key meals (lunch and dinner).

The vast majority of the population say they are satisfied with the time spent on meals, especially the elders who can enjoy them more easily.

The French get really involved with their meals: over two thirds of them say they eat a healthy diet, take their time and even try to cook regularly... although 31% still eat ready meals.
